Hi, I’m Erin Michele. Welcome to steps to trusting. Thank you for joining us today. It is my goal here to meet you where you are in your faith journey and  encourage you to continue to take steps to trusting the Lord more fully.[00:00:18]

Hi everyone. And welcome to our very first show at Steps to  trusting.  Today I wanted to discuss a little bit what you might expect from the show.   I wanted to start  with a question of trust. What does trusting God look like?  What I’m learning is that trust is not a one time decision, but it’s something that’s ongoing in our lives. If we say that we trust God and it doesn’t change or affect us, are we truly trusting him? [00:00:49]

Trust is active. It’s seeing who God is seeing his character and how he loves us and choosing to walk in the way that he desires of us instead of the way that we desire.  [00:01:02]

We are faced with moments and decisions that show where we are placing our trust. Each person chooses with their steps, where they place their trust. I’ve found that for me often,   I have allowed myself to choose, to make decision based on my own strengths, needs or lack,  instead of choosing to trust who God is choosing to trust that he is able to do  what I can not. Trusting that he is with me, even in my weakness.[00:01:35]

When we are faced with decisions that show where our trust is placed. Each time we have a chance that we can decide,  are we going to take a step of trust in the Lord, or are we going to be trusting in something or someone else?[00:01:53]

I have found that as I think about these decisions, these crossroads in my life  of choosing to trust the Lord or choosing to trust something other than him, that I take a lot of missteps. There are a lot of mistakes, but yet there are a lot of opportunities for me to see where I’ve made that mistake and to turn again, to set my eyes on the Lord.  To reconfirm my trust in who he is to reconfirm by my obedience, that I will follow after the Lord. [00:02:27]

 So how do we become equipped and aware to walk towards the Lord- to take steps to trusting him more fully? That is what the goal of this podcast is setting out to explore. We’ll be looking at what it looks like to step out in faith and desiring to learn more about the character of God. [00:02:47]

We will be looking at others’ journeys and hard moments where they’ve faced this decision of stepping out in trust. We’ll talk about mistakes that they’ve made and encouragement  to set your eyes on who God is and how he will meet you in those moments. We’ll talk about God’s faithfulness and his kindness.[00:03:09]

We’ll talk about how he works willingness in our hearts to desire to follow him.  We’ll explore what it means to know the steps that God has laid out in front of us. We’ll ask questions. We’ll look at scriptures. We’ll hear testimonies, lessons, mistakes,  and encouragement and we will pray for one another.[00:03:33]
